EV, the financial planning and customer engagement technology provider, has announced the appointment of Jake Moeller as Director, Investment Consulting, to support clients with its asset modelling capabilities.
Jake joins EV from Titan Square Mile, where he was Associate Director, Responsible Investment and Senior Investment Consultant. In that role, he conducted fund research, contributed to portfolio construction, and supported investment and adviser firms in developing their propositions, including the ongoing assessment of more than 400 funds and bespoke consultancy for advisers, asset managers and charities. Earlier in his career, Jake worked as a portfolio manager and served as a pension trustee. He brings considerable investment experience and a strong reputation across the industry for clear, effective communication with both firms and clients.
His appointment comes as regulatory scrutiny on risk explanation and retirement income continues to increase. The FCA’s retirement income thematic review has required firms to demonstrate that their accumulation and income methodologies are fit for purpose. EV’s asset model has supported firms in meeting the FCA’s recommendations ahead of competitors and has a 15-year track record of consistently top-quartile performance against its peer group. The model factors in capacity for loss and attitude to both investment and income risk, with its outputs published quarterly.
EV’s calculation engine models thousands of economic scenarios, accounting for market uncertainty and volatility. It underpins EV’s product suite for advisers and investment managers, including risk profiling questionnaires that covers 25% of the UK market and a risk rating service used by more than 55 investment managers, including HSBC, Legal & General Investment Management and Vanguard. Almost £8 billion has been invested in funds driven by asset allocations from EV’s calculation engine.
Jake will work directly with clients, helping them apply this technology to portfolio construction, risk and retirement income requirements.
Commenting on his appointment, Jake said:
“I’ve spent my career helping investment and adviser firms deliver better client outcomes for their clients and that’s work drew me to EV. Its expertise in investment modelling and the chance to help firms develop practical solutions for portfolio construction, risk and retirement income head-on, made this an easy decision. EV’s tools give firms the ability to build solutions they can stand behind and explain clearly, whether that’s to a client or to the regulator.”
Chet Velani, CEO at EV, said:
"Jake’s arrival is a significant moment for EV. Given the regulatory focus on retirement income and risk, we’ve seen a real increase in demand for our asset modelling capabilities. Our performance has been consistently strong, yet for too long it’s been known only to a select few advisers. Jake’s experience and reputation in the market puts us in a strong position to change that, deepen our client relationships and help shape the direction of our solution strategy.”
